What Is The Kyle Franks Foundation College Scholarship?

  • The Kyle Franks Foundation Scholarship Program has been established to annually award deserving local area students with scholarship assistance.
  • Proceeds from the Kyle Franks Charity Golf Classic will support our community campaign for substance abuse awareness, as well as support the Kyle Franks Foundation “tough street” Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the Board of Directors.
  • Our projected funding is $500 per student, per semester, as long as the student is in good standing with the Board and in compliance with the criteria set.
  • On occasion, the qualifying student will be expected to provide community services in behalf of the Foundation and in support of fundraising efforts.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • It is our focus to help “at risk” or potentially at risk kids.
  • Students entering college as well as existing college students needing further assistance to continue their education can be considered.
  • Applicants are chosen based on several criteria including: Pima County resident, attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university, and a minimum GPA of 2.50 or minimum GED score of 500.
  • Each applicant will be asked to provide a student biography, personal essay, and two letters of recommendation.
  • Included in the package should be the explanation of why you think you deserve the support.
  • There is no fee involved in applying for this scholarship.

Application Process

  • Register with us via this website and fill in all questions asked.
  • The deadline to apply is May 1st, every year. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Each recipient will be reviewed for compliance to Scholarship requirements.

Scholarship Application Form

Complete the entire scholarship application below. Please make sure to mail everything in the Scholarship Packet in addition to filling out the form. Your application will not be considered if the packet is incomplete. A copy of your official transcript is required with the packet.

Scholarship Packet

The packet you are to submit includes the following items:

  • Student Biography
  • Personal Essay
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Copy of High School / Current School Transcript
Student Biography
  • Submit a Student Biography that lists school and unpaid community activities, special awards, honors, and offices held.
  • Also include work experience listing dates of employment for each job and your responsibilities.
  • Student Biography specifications: typed; double-spaced.
Essay
  • The essay should answer why you feel you should be awarded this scholarship. Also address your plans as they relate to your education, career, and long-term goals.
  • Essay specifications: typed, double-spaced, 12 pt., Times New Roman. Limit 2 pages. (300 words)
Letters of Recommendation
  • Include two letters of recommendation. These may include teachers, coaches, or someone who oversees your work: i.e. boss, advisor, etc. No letters from relatives should be submitted and will not be accepted.
  • Copy of High School or Current College Transcript
  • A current copy reflecting your last semester’s academic performance.
